If there is one thing for certain it is that when we hear about another person's suffering, we immediately wish there was some way in which we could help. No matter where you are from, your religious perpespective or your own life circumstances, we are all the same in this desire to help our fellow man.
There are those who will say it is up to our governments to do this or that there are groups and organisations out there who want to keep us in a state of suffering to meet their own ends but this idiom does not get help out to people and it does not help us in solving how to cure life issues and ill health. Blaming others does not get hospital bills paid or keep a roof over people's heads.
So in the absense of government we rely on each other and on faith and on our own abilities to grow stronger and survive. "What does not kill us makes us stronger". This is the essence of Angels. We do not wait for better times, we do not wait for the world to change or for legislation to be changed. We act in whatever we can, now, when it is needed.
1.
Prayer The power of prayer should never be underestimated. We at Angels have proved time and again that prayer can change lives. When we pray or ritualise our beliefs, we are creating powerful, positive energy flows which extend out and attract not only each others energy but also the energy of Creation, Spirit, God.
In terms of helping others in this world, prayer is our most powerful weapon. It does not matter which Gods you believe in or which practices you follow. Even the most gentle but heart felt whisper holds power.
So in the first instance of trying to help another person or cause or yourself, some time spent praying will begin a healing process.
2.
Community On the internet we come together from across the globe. Although mostly the members here are from USA and Canada they can be as far apart as I can in the UK from my friends in India or Denmark. Yet here on the network we are but a click of a button away from each other. We are a community.
There is a chat function here, to open it you click on the bar at the bottom of the screen (on the right hand symbols) and make sure you have the volume turned up so you can hear if someone is trying to get through to you. Often people simply want someone to talk to. Are you able to spend some time chatting to someone to help them?
Send a message or visit a member's page and leave a nice comment. Showing moral support can have a good affect on a person. Often those in need are isolated and just sending a nice word to them can help them feel better.
3.
Direct Help Can you offer more direct help?
Why not check to see if the member you intend to help lives near you? Can you visit them? Can you use your knowledge to find local resources which might benefit them? Is there a website that you know of which would benefit them?
Can you give them money? Always a touchy subject but let's face it, who here would not welcome a small financial gift from someone who cares?
We offer a
donations portal here which is completely safe where you can donate money using Paypal. All the money we raise here goes to helping those who need us. If there is a member in crisis we look firstly to the network account to see if there is anything we can give them, also you can send a message to the admin here telling us who the donation is for so we can forward it.
There are so many ways in which people can help others without having to give money. Sourcing resources for them (legal, social, medical) can be a huge help. Use the internet to find these resources if you need to.
Just chatting or contacting a person can also help.
Offering your services for free.
Give them a reading.
Send them a gift.
Create a group specifically for them for us all to add our prayers.
When someone at Angels needs help, do not just simply say, "Yeah, well, when I'm better off I'll do what I can."
Instead, get creative. Use your skills and give them some time. Put yourself in their position and think about what would make you feel better.
Why not add some ideas here for people?
How many ways can you think of in which we could help another person in need?
